Charge: Aggravated Domestic Violence 720 ILCS 5/12-3.3

A.S. was charged with Aggravated Domestic Violence under 720 ILCS 5/12-3.3 with the allegations that A.S. strangled his wife after discovering her infidelity. Aggravated Domestic Violence is a class 2 felony with a mandatory 60 day jail sentence if convicted. Furthermore, A.S. would be a convicted felon and lose many rights as a result of a domestic violence conviction.

Attorney Purav Bhatt successfully convinced a jury to acquit A.S of the felony charges against him establishing that the State provided no evidence of strangulation. Furthermore, Attorney Bhatt successfully convinced the jury that the injuries suffered by the complainant were actually the result of self-defense actions taken by A.S.
