PEOPLE v O.S.

Officers responded to the area of a report of a vehicle being shot at. While enroute O.S. was seen fleeing on foot from the crashed vehicle. After being taken into custody, police searched and found 44 grams of methamphetamine in O.S’s bag. O.S. was charged with possession with intent to deliver 15 or more grams of methamphetamine, in violation of 720 ILCS 646/55, a class X felony punishable by a mandatory sentence of 6 to 30 years in prison. Attorney Bhatt successfully convinced the prosecutors and Court to sentence the defendant to expungable probation thereby avoiding a felony conviction and any jail time.
