PEOPLE v A.K.

After receiving a domestic violence call, police responded to A.K.’s home, where he was detained, handcuffed and thrown down to the ground by Burbank police officers multiple times. A.K. was charged with multiple felony counts of resisting arrest (720 ILCS 5/31-1) and multiple domestic violence counts (720 ILCS 5/3.2. As a result of the police actions A.K. suffered numerous broken ribs, a punctured lung, and other injuries to his head and body. After pushing the case to jury trial and not accepting a plea bargain, attorney Purav Bhatt forced the prosecution to dismiss all charges against A.K on the eve of trial.
