public indecencyWith summer approaching, the number one complaints associated with summer drinking is: public urination. With the Taste of Chicago, Lollapalooza and countless neighborhood festivals coming up, it’s a regular complaint, made worse by limited public bathrooms. Public urination can be charged as either a state charge of Public Indecency (720 ILCS 5/11-9) leading to arrest or a municipal ordinance violation (8-4-081) which can lead to citations being issued. Public urination offenses can lead to fines or even jail time.

l jurisdictions have enacted and enforce public urination laws as a way to promote public safety and health.

In my experience as an attorney, I have seen cops charge individuals who have been caught urinating in public under indecent exposure laws if they see your private parts flashed in public.

To some, public urination is funny, but an arrest can have serious effects. A conviction for public indecency will result in you being required to register as a sex offender.

If you or a loved on has been charged with public urination, public indecency or similar charges, you want to consult a defense attorney to help fight a public urination charge and perhaps get it expunged from your record.
